The Asus ROG Phone 3 was just launched and the good news about it for me is that I might soon be able to afford the ROG Phone 2. My point is, while the ROG Phone 3 is equipped with awesome features (and I can really say the features are awesome), the ROG Phone 2 is really a powerful mobile gaming device.
The ASUS ROG Phone 3
However let us not take away the spotlight from today’s star, the ASUS ROG Phone 3. Watching the launch definitely made me drool over the specs of this new gaming phone from ASUS. For starters the ROG Phone 3 is powered by the “currently” worlds fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus. This means processing is going to be faster which is needed especially during a critical part or level of a particular game. You do not want to be lagging during a boss fight or during the final 2 of Fortnite, COD Mobile or PUBG Mobile do you?
ASUS ROG Phone 3 Internet Connectivity
What is a fast processor without fast internet connectivity? The answer, a gaming experience that is frustrating. This is why the ASUS ROG Phone 3 is equipped with a 5G chip to allow the Phone to connect to a 5G Network.
The Cooling System
Intense gameplay, require intense processing, and where there is intense processing there is heat and not the type of heat during gameplay but literal heat is produced by the processors. This is why Gaming PC’s have large cooling systems. The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is also provided with its cooling system from the transparent vents on the back cover, the large heatsink, the redesigned 3D Vapor chamber that contains the graphite film that dispels heat. If that is not enough you can even add the new Aero Active Cooler 3, a clip-on external fan that keeps it cool. Why all the need for a cooling system? As you know or may have already experienced, as the processor heats up the performance slows down.
Long Battery Life
ASUS is known for providing longer battery life not only for their gaming phones but also for their mobile phone lines as well, which all started with the Zenfone Max Pro M1 and M2. Of course, a gaming mobile phone will not be complete if it also doesn’t have long battery life. This is why the ROG Phone 3 is equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery.

Should We Buy the ASUS ROG Phone 3?
Tip, when buying a phone, buy according to purpose.
I always thought that the ROG Phone is a true gamer’s phone, with all the power you get in one phone just to play your favorite game. So if you are a serious gamer, the ROG Phone 3 is a good investment, especially if you plan on recouping your investment in buying the phone when your streaming revenue takes off. But if you are just going to use it for calls and social media posts then I feel that you are undervaluing the power of the ROG Phone 3, and you might be better off buying a non-gaming phone.
But for serious gamers? If you have the budget to buy the ROG Phone 3 but you are still undecided, then you might want to look at how the previous version of the ROG Phone performed. I started the blog post by saying I might now at least be able to afford to buy the ROG Phone 2 (assuming there is a price drop) this is because it is one of the multi-awarded phones last year, and if we know ASUS, the next version is always an improvement of the previous one. So short answer? YES, you should buy the ASUS ROG Phone 3.
