Major tech conferences this 2020 have already been cancelled including the Mobile World Congress, Facebook F8 Developers Conference and others over the growing concerns on Coronavirus.
Yesterday, Google announced that Cloud Next ’20 will now be a digital-only conference as a precautionary measure to promote the health and safety of participants and the community.
Following the announcement about the reimagined Next ’20, Google has now cancelled I/O developer conference supposedly set to happen on May 12 to 14, 2020.
“Due to concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre.”

Moreover, the tech giant also said that it will continue to find and explore other ways to develop and improve Google I/O to best connect with their developer community.
As of the moment, Google has not made any announcement whether they’ll proceed with I/O keynotes and sessions through a digital conference or not.
Supposed attendees who bought tickets to the company’s flagship developer conference will be given full refund and won’t have to enter the draw next year as they will be automatically given the option to buy tickets for I/O 2021.
With Google I/O, developers from around the world are being given the opportunity to witness thousands of demonstrations and have a first-hand experience of the tech company’s latest developments on its various products.
