In this Blog Post:
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), on June 17, 2020, has asked companies to act against hate and disinformation being spread by Facebook through their campaign called Stop Hate for Profit.
NAACP was founded in the year 1909 in response to the ongoing violence against Black people, and according to them, their organization is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the US.
The Stop Hate for Profit Campaign by NAACP
Their campaign, Stop Hate for Profit, on the other hand, is about asking businesses to not advertise on Facebook’s services. Together with the NAACP on this campaign are ADL, Color of Change, Common Sense, Free Press, Sleeping Giants, LULAC, Mozilla, and NHMC.
“We are asking all businesses to stand in solidarity with our most deeply held American values of freedom, equality and justice and not advertise on Facebook’s services in July.”
