Social media giant YouTube has rolled out High-dynamic Range (HDR) for live streams giving the most spectacular image quality for live content. This was launched on December 8, 2020 (Tuesday).

HDR videos have higher contrast, revealing precise, detailed shadows and stunning highlights with more clarity than ever. And by bringing HDR to live streams, we’re unlocking the most spectacular image quality for live content yet.”

In 2016, YouTube has added HDR support that brought a new level of color to the platform. With the newly launched support to live HDR streams in the platform videos will have higher contrast, revealing precise, detailed shadows and stunning highlights with more clarity than ever
According to YouTube, beginning December 8, any creator on YouTube using a supported encoder will be able to stream in HDR to YouTube.
While any viewers can watch live streams in HDR on supported devices which includes the latest Android mobile devices or HDR-capable smart TV or streaming stick.
