WhatsApp Hits 2 Billion Users

WhatsApp just achieved a milestone for having a total of 2 Billion users around the world as announced by the messaging app through a blog post last Wednesday. For the past two years, 500,000 million more people have joined the platform as users.

When Facebook acquired the popular messaging app in 2014, WhatsApp, at that time, already has a substantial number of users which is around 500,000 Million. Over the years, the users keep on growing. From 1 Billion users in 2016 and 1.5 Billion users in 2018, WhatsApp is now part of the two-billion-user club.

WhatsApp included on their blog post that aside from providing an easy way to connect with people they emphasized every private message sent using WhatsApp is secured with end-to-end encryption by default. This is the message of WhatsApp for their billions of users, “Messages are only kept on your phone, and no one in between can read your messages or listen to your calls, not even us. Your private conversations stay between you.”
