This Phones AI prevents you from taking nude selfies

No one is safe from taking nude selfies, some of you might have done it and some might have even sent it. That’s just the thing with technology nowadays, once it’s on the web it will exist online for “eternity”. Taking nude photos and sending it may be one of the things that people both young and old might regret later.

How many people are taking nude selfies?

In a study released by McAfee, 50% of people have used their mobile device to share or receive intimate or sexual text messages, emails or photos from someone. In a survey done by Cosmopolitan, with 850 of their readers, revealed that eighty-nine percent (89%) of women have taken nude selfies at some point. In the same survey, only 14.25% regretted taking the nude selfies.

The McAfee Survey

Except for the last data, this only proves that there is a growing number of people taking naked pictures of themselves. A Japanese phone company thinks taking naked selfies is not such a good idea, prompting them to develop an AI software integrated into their phone. Tone is a Japanese company that is leading the charge to protect Japan’s population from taking nude selfies.

The Tone e20

The Tone e20 is a budget Android phone that has a 6.26-inch display and a three-camera set-up. This phone is priced at 19,800 yen or about $180. The most notable feature, however, is the Smart Protection feature. This feature is an AI-powered software that prevents you from taking nude selfies. The AI is equipped with an image-processing algorithm that detects suspected nude photos. Once it flags a nude photo taken with the camera it will prevent the photo to be saved in your phone’s gallery.

The Tone e20 is available only in Japan. What do you think? Is this a great feature that other international phone companies should add? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
